Lucas had two little birthday celebrations for his 2nd Birthday. The first was on Lucas' actual birthday with my side of the family. We went out for pizza and I attempted to make a dump truck cake since Lucas is into cars and trucks...it was a little interesting. :o) The next day we celebrated both Lucas and Grandpa R's birthday (his is on December 28th) in Castle Rock with Steve's family. We had pizza (we like pizza a lot) and cute snowman cupcakes. Lucas did an awesome job singing "Happy birthday" with us and blowing out his candles. Whereas before he was a little indifferent about opening presents, he seems to have gotten the hang of it after the two previous Christmas events (see
1 and
2.) (Side note: We are finding that it is difficult trying to celebrate Lucas' birthday the day right after Christmas when we are already a bit tired from Christmas festivities. We are even thinking that when Lucas is older we might do a half birthday celebration in June or July, but we will see. Even postponing a party until later in January might be nice.)
Nana made french toast and "toffee" (coffee, but it was really hot cocoa) for Lucas' birthday breakfast.
