Christian is 10 Weeks

So Christian was supposed to have his "2 month checkup" today...at 10 weeks...BUT they cancelled on me, and forgot to call and tell me they cancelled and now Christian will have his "2 month checkup" at 3 months....oh well. A little irritating, but I am glad that we live on base and I didn't drive 40 minutes to the pediatrician for them to tell me that they cancelled his appointment. Anyway, Christian has been busy, busy, and these are the things that he has been up to the past week or so:

  • Beginning to get over the whole "swaddling" thing...plus his receiving blankets don't seem to wrap him the way they used to...not to mention those crazy kicking legs!

  • Studying faces and people's reactions. He is following people around the room, not just with his eyes, but he is turning his head also.

  • Christian has nearly mastered holding his head on his own...every now and then he needs a little support.

  • Sleeping longer stretches at night (my favorite!) The past few nights Christian has slept 7 hours before waking for a diaper change and to nurse. He is also learning to self-soothe and fall asleep on his own.

  • This is funny: when Christian wakes in the night, I go into his room and nearly every time find him turned 90 degrees from where he started in his crib. I wouldn't be surprised if he rolls over soon too. He is pretty strong!

Thanksgiving Week

We all had a great time with Steve's parents this week. It was so fun going to Disneyland and very enjoyable relaxing at home the rest of the week. Steve's mom and I prepared most of Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday which was good because we had a power outage most of the morning on Thanksgiving day. Fortunately, we have a gas stove and oven...so we would have survived. :)

On Monday we visited Steve's Great Aunt Lucille in La Canada Flintridge and she was tickled to meet Christian. Christian meeting his Great-Great Aunt Lucille:

Christian loves his Grandpa and Grandma....very, very spoiled by them!

Christian *Hearts* Grandpa and Grandma...and Disneyland too.

This past weekend at Disneyland was so fun and magical with all the Christmas decorations and twinkly lights...it was fairly busy with Thanksgiving coming up, but we just enjoyed all the sights and took part in a few rides. Christian enjoyed all the lights and stimulation (there is so much going on!) He even "made" his first Build-A-Bear with the help of mom and dad, a polar bear named "Everest" (yes, I know there are no polar bears on Mt. Everest.)

He especially enjoyed meeting Grandpa and Grandma R. and has been spoiled by them with lots of hugs, kisses, singing, reading, and cuddling...mommy can no longer soothe him the way that they can. :o) It is really fun to see Christian watch their faces and smile and coo.

Christian is SO cute (if I may say so,) and really a very content baby. It seems like just this weekend he grew even more and is learning so much. He is holding his head pretty well, and is sleeping some longer stretches at night (hooray for that- 5 consecutive hours is huge!) He is growing before our very eyes...before we know it he will be crawling!

We are looking forward to the rest of this week with Grandpa and Grandma and are excited about some delicious Thanksgiving food and family time. Hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Disneyland, Here I Come!

This weekend I get to go to Disneyland and I am finally going to meet Grandpa and Grandma R! Then they are going to come to my house for Thanksgiving! I can't wait!

Christian is 2 Months

Time sure is flying by, and I cannot believe how much our baby boy has already grown. It wasn't that long ago that we brought home the little guy with his little birdie (sorry buddy) arms and legs, and now he is beginning to put on some rolls. Christian is becoming more and more alert during the day and slowwwly but surely sleeping better at night. When he is awake he is pleasant and sweet-natured, and is beginning to give some big toothless grins (the ones that make your heart just melt!) He makes the sweetest little sounds while sleeping and eating...and makes grunting sounds at other times- a true boy I suppose. He LOVES to be held, and will almost always fall asleep in our arms...I guess it's the warmest and best place to be!

Poor little guy had his 2 month vaccinations today and did really well. Still not fun (probably worse for mommy.) I was unable to get him a 2 month check-up until November 30th, so I guess we will have to wait on his official weight, height, head circumference...etc. until then.

Christian is growing and changing so quickly. It's true what they say about time flying by with children, which is why it's so important to just enjoy and cherish each and every part along the way...(even if that includes those stinky diapers and sleepless nights.)

Just Had to Share

I love the pictures of Christian sleeping...so peaceful. :o) Makes up for the many interruptions during the night. But really, he is SO worth it all!

Stripes

Apparently baby boys don't wear polka dots (that's reserved for the girls) so it's all about the stripes. Here is Christian sporting some of his outfits and pj's with stripes (all within this past month):

Daddy's wear stripes too! Christian and Daddy with their matchy-matchy shirts.

Christian is 7 Weeks

Christian is growing so quickly! We packed away most of his newborn clothing at 6 weeks and have moved on to size 1 diapers. Surprised that they lasted that long! He is such a sweetheart. So fun to see him change and grow!

Already making faces (wonder who he got that from?)

Airplane jammies of course :)

UPDATE

**UPDATE: We are officially out of Edwards on December 20! (Just not sure when exactly we will be reporting to Shaw- Steve may be doing a training en route.)

Good bye Pacific...

...Hello Atlantic! It's official, Steve recently received his orders and we are moving across the country to Shaw AFB in South Carolina! Now we just have to wait on a few details to figure out when we will actually be saying "good bye" to Edwards. It could be as soon as December and as late as February, although it will most likely be sooner than later. We are excited for a change and neither of us have lived on the east coast, so it will be a new adventure! (Isn't it all an adventure with military life?) Steve enjoyed North Carolina during his recent training, so hopefully South Carolina will be nice as well. Mostly we are just looking forward to being in an actual city where we don't have to drive 40 minutes to go out to dinner or just for those every day conveniences that we take for granted. AND we are excited about GREEN. :) Please pray that all the details and loose ends will come together soon and that traveling across the U.S. will go smoothly with a new baby and crazy cat.

Colorado Dreaming

I was telling Christian all about Colorado, but he was not very happy with me when I told him that we have to wait until Christmas time before we can see the snow and our families. Fortunately Grandpa and Grandma R. are going to come visit us for Thanksgiving! In the meantime, we can dream....
